The First Dot-Com

Ever wonder what the first registered domain was? The Victor crew did and this is what we found:

Sunday marked the 30th anniversary of the first dot-com. It was registered on March 15, 1985 by Lisp computer. The address was symbolics.com. It is registered with Network Solutions. The company went out of business in August 2009 but the name was sold to a small investor group in Dallas, TX.

Lisp was a programming language and there were Lisp Machines optimized for the language. So out of the approximately 275,000,000 domain names out there, this is the first and oldest domain name registered.
